I am one of the most troubled customer of SICKEST connection called Hathway.
I took Hathway, broad band connection in Bangalore, HSR layout, just 10 days back.
Dont know, what magic, first two days, it worked. After that, everyday, we call up their customer service, cos there is no signal at all. From the second, day, we call them up almost three times a day, requesting, begging, threatening, pleading....hmmmmmmm NOWAY. .......They are stubborn, that, they will not provide what they promised, not even 10 kbps forget 256 kbps, once they received the payment. I wonder they have some tie up with BSNL or any land line, the number of calls they get to their customer service, they might get commission......probably that is their income.

Bangaloreans !! Beware of HATHWAY broadband. They will put up stalls in ur street having all the marketing gimmicks. Finaly, U will end up repenting , .... only to look at the modem and blink, whether it will blink......or not !!!

Better to go for good ones, even though cost may be higher. !!! HATH WAY -- IS -- WRATH WAY

Yes, Kmu, I agree with all that. Hathway is worse than hopeless. They dont help and they dont care. I hope they read all these threads. I am sure they must be knowing about this site. Look at BSNL website, they give an email of all persons, right from CMD down to the last person. Hathway people do not even let you meet the people at higher end. They just play catch catch with you like a ball, tossing here and there all the time, and of course, eat up all your money. That's the thing they will take with both hands spread out. And when it comes to service and responsibility, such words are not there in their dictionary.

well the update is that on wednesday one of their engineers came home from office with a replacement modem and tried that from my place to see if it is a modem issue. Still the same issue.

Now the next thing he wants to do is get a laptop and check it out from a different machine. I informed him him that I have already tried it on two different machines and still the same issue and asked him will be next if its still the same. No amswer except "We will have to check, Sir". Also he added that hathway provides only one laptop to be used between santacruz and kandivli so it will take time. Take time even to know when the laptop will be available.

Btw i talked to friend of mine in the meantime in powai and he had the exact same issue with another provider in his area. It seems he and his local provider had to go around with a laptop to each connecting switch to find out where the fault was occuring. It turned out to be a faulty switch because the electricity in the bldg was fluctuating.

I am now only in contact with the local guy here(7 bunglows, andheri(w)) and the engineers over there.
Yup the phone guys dont know much but its hathways fault for not ensuring their competency or giving them the right knowledge.

hey guys,
read quite a few issues about hathway in here but did not find anything similar to the problem i am facing.
So here it is:

Short story: I get a lot of request time out's to my gateway ONLY when i am downloading or browsing. It lags on voice conversations, pages freeze while browsing and downloads get interrupted in case i get a lot of request time outs.

Sigh. the longer version:

Got hathway cable on 1st january 2006, 64 kbps unlimited to start with. Knowing how service is in India i wanted to check if they gave me all the right stuff first. I was quite happy in the start cause downloads were great and i had no problem browsing on chatting on yahoo or skype. Towards the end of the month i noticed hat voice conversations were lagging. I did a check on download speed and it was still around 5-7 kbp at most times. Since I also noticed an issue with some pages freezing while loading I ran a continuous ping to the gateway and noticed a few request time outs.

Called up customer support at hathway and got someone who didnt know what a ping request was. got a complaint number tho and a promise that they would check on their end.

around the same time my voice convo's stopped and internet usage at home reduced so i didnt notice the issue much. called hathway again a month later with the same issue got someone who tried a few basic things like restarting the modem and he said he would have to forward it to this engineers. well nothing happened .

10 days back i called again cause the voice convos were getting real bad and i noticed that Only when i tried to download something or browse i recieve request time outs to the gateway(sometimes 5 in ten are time outs). Thought this would help them. but this further confused the cust support. i called three times that night and got the same guy three times(he refused to let me talk to his TL).
eventually he filed a report to his engineer.

So the engineer from local office calls me up and i tell him the exact problem again tell me he would send someone over. After two days of calling the local office i was given the cell no's of some wiring guys who are in my area. They come over do some changes to the modem wiring and say they say their part is fine and give me another number.

This number is for the a engineer at the local cable office and his first suggestion is the 64 kbps unlimited plan is too low and i should switch to a higher plan. I have a friend who has voice convo's on 40kbps so thats a crappy suggestion. Then he tried to set me up on USB to see if that works. SO i ran the setup with him and still the same problem. He tells me do only one thing at a time.
MAN I am just doing one download at 6 kbps and a ping to gateway. am i calling hathway broadband or dialup? So he couldnt figure it out and said he would check the connection and get back to me. So have to wait till tuesday.

I should mention that I have been using a new computer for the last 15 days.
Any suggestions guys? i dont think it should be timing out on a 64 kbps speed. what do you think?
Also I am in the andheri(w) versova area, gateway 60.254.46.1. anyone else there having the same problem?

I was a user of Hathway Night 8 to 8, 256 Unlimited and used to get speeds of 24 to 28 KB/sec.
Some days back I upgraded to Freeway Xtra, 24 hours, 256 Kbps Unlimited. Since upgradation of plan, I have been getting speeds of only 6 KB/sec. I regularly called up helpdesk for solution, but for two days they were just not ready to admit mistake from their side. After a huge email complaint to them, they started seeing the problem. Two days they spent observing my speed. Finally, when I thrashed the support on help line, they sent an engineer to my place to check. He confirmed the speed on his laptop, and he too was getting only 6 KB/sec. They have puut me on observation again for two three days, saying they will monitor my speed, inspite of him agreeing that problem is from their side and he himself criticizing Hathway.

Almost one valuable week has passed, I have spent almost 100 rupees on phone calls to them, all the trouble, and complaint still not rectified.

I am planning to go directly to Head office of hathway at Parel, and want to meet some responsible person. Can anyone tell me whom to meet, as they dont directly allow to meet. Also, I am going to ask him to compensate for all the trouble they have caused me, by atleast giving me a week or two of the plan for which I have already paid (Once they get the money, they dont care about customers).

Do you think I am doing right by going to meet the main person there? Any other suggestions.

And to add salt to the wound, I cant believe that just few weeks back, on a thread here for vote on best internet service provider, I myself voted for Hathway as the best. And now they are giving me the trouble I never imagined.

Let me come to the next complaint.

I’m tired of the Hathway customer service I took thier OL 24/7 it was 800 rs per month unlimited usage and i prepaid 8000
rs for the full year (mar05-mar06) i,e 2 months discount this was in March 05.

In aug 05 they reduced and named a new package called thruway for 500rs It was exactly the same package but they said this
package does not apply to me since i have prepaid.

Let me come to the next complaint.

Since aug 05 when they introduced the new package i have been suffering a lot of downtime in my 24/7 package which they
promissed. Finally when i complained they said they would extend the package by my downtime days. around 2 months back i
submitted my downtime which was around 46 full days i.e these are days when it was down the whole day + another 30 days
or so of downtime when it was partly down.......

Now what does hathway do .... they tell me my credit is only 29 days and guess what the billing dept says the tech dept
has given the number of days and the tech dept says the billing dept has calculated it wrongly......

finally on 3rd febuary 2006 they tell me the cable has cut and the accounts dept is finallising my acount for the year...
pssst i have paid till 18 mar 06 ...... and i can take a credit of the money for the next payment >:) now how many days
credit do they give me ??? take it or leave it....

today is 6th feb 2006 and i am still waiting for them to tell me how much is my credit, if someone in hathway is reading
or someone who wants to take hathway to consumer court call me on +91 9845165512

I wanted to install Hathway Broadband at home, and promptly a sales person visited my home on 21st Dec, 2005. He took the
full payment, and informed me that wiring wiuld be complete in 5 days, and the connection would start on 1st Jan, 2006. Till
date ( 11th Jan, 2006), forget about wiring, not a single person from Hathway tried to contact me. I call them up everyday,
I get a response that there is some wiring work still pending at the back-end, which will be done in 2 days. They take my
number everyday, but never call me.

I asked the person (Anil Kalap), who come to my house and took the cheque, to refund the money, but that also has not
happenned.

I hope higher management in Hathway will notice this and respond to me.

I wanted a Hathway Broadband connection the offer looked good.So I paid the money and I was promised the connection in two
days but it has been 13 days now without any connection and whenever I call them the only reply I get is "We will do it by
today evening".Disgusted I asked for a refund and they agreed and now I have to keep calling them for my refund.

Dont' opt for Hathway in Bangalore city since they have pathetic service.

I’m tired of the Hathway customer service and want to seriously take up the matter of wrong billing and erratic service with their senior management and, if needed, then to the consumer court. Can someonee suggest who in Hathway (any contact no. would help) can I approach first? Also any referrals for the consumer court? thanks

He promised me connection on 15th but on 17th there is still no connection.
According to me their service is pathetic.

hi, I have been using hathway since 3 years & I must say its become the worst ISP there today, I would advice anybody against taking hathway...as I am using it at 3 different places & all sux. They provide lan connection at my home for 800 /unlimited & since the beginning used to give max 6 kb now when everybody is giving better speed at cheaper rates their speed started drop & when I called the help desk that I was getting 2/3 KB download they checked & the guy is telling yes this is a shared lan connection & 3 KB is perfect speed I shud be getting, if I want better speeed then I shud go for their modem connection, I told him as a matter of fact I am using their modem 256 KB connection at my office & only after evening I get 22/23 KB speed otherwise its 12/15 KB speed, where again he checks & tells me ya there is no problem that is ok speed will vary ???? They have become totally incompetant...I was using 1 gb limit at office for 128 KB sceme & they changed their schemes & made them cheaper but it took me 1 1/2 month to convince them to change my scheme & atleast inform me about new schemes, they shud be trying to retain their customers instead of trying to just get new customers & give bad service to existing ones....terrible...stay away from hathway, I have changed to exatt.
